Devil in Disguise
I was fooled by such innocence, a man of my age should have known better, but there is no fool like an old fool, or so they say. Such sweetness, appealed to my vanity I suppose, no, that’s wrong, its an appeal to what might have been. And the sands of time are running out.
It’s a heady brew you know, youth and vitality coupled with sweet unknowing sensuality, but it can be deceptive, as I was to find out. And anyway she was not quite so young when I got closer: my eyesight was not what it was!
There were certain crows feet about the eyes, there was the start of a wrinkle in the cheek, maybe her breasts were not as firm as they might have been, but hell, who am I to pick spots, you should see my wrinkled skin!
She smiled. Was that at me I thought? Its dangerous to read to much into a smile, those of advanced years do not invite smiles for fear of looking a fool!
But what the hell, I thought I‘ve nothing to lose, but take care, you’d be an idiot to be amorous, this required a touch of the old savoir-faire. What about the kindly uncle technique…..no, that’s all right but in the end gets you nowhere, well not where your imagination takes you.
But I needn’t have bothered cause she came over and sat right next to me! Strike while the iron is hot is my motto, don’t be shy. ’Do you come here often’ is an old cliché, but there are plenty of variations.
I turned with a ready phrase on my lips, but I was made speechless by a pair of hazel eyes looking up into mine and her outstretched hand rested on my arm in a intimate way, and God was that her knee touching on mine?
‘Can you help me?’ she breathed.
My world spun, this was more than I expected, could I help her, at that moment I could have moved the sun and the stars! Sir Galahad answered.
‘Any way I can, what is the problem?’ I drawled in the best Cary Grant manner, as if my sole purpose in life was to help helpless maidens.
’Well its my bedroom door it seems to be jammed’
She led me to her bedroom, the door opened easily, she invited me in, and made a sensuous advance that I could not resist. We made, I was going to say wild, love. She was so caring with me.
She had flown by the morning light, and so had my wallet, my watch, my gold bracelet, and my self respect: but it was worth it!
